Communication is HIV Prevention

“Start Talking. Stop HIV., a new phase of CDC’s Act Against AIDS initiative, seeks to reduce new HIV infections among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men* by encouraging open discussion about a range of HIV prevention strategies and related sexual health issues between sex partners. Effective partner communication about HIV can reduce HIV transmission by supporting HIV testing, HIV status disclosure, condom use, and the use of medicines to prevent and treat HIV.”

Raise the voices of trans lives!

“The National Transgender Discrimination Survey has been the go-to resource for helping the public understand trans people and our community’s experiences. And here in Pennsylvania, the US Trans Survey has helped Equaity PA to educate elected officials and government agencies about the experiences of the transgender community in our state.”

National HIV Testing Day: Project Selfie Contest

ProjectSelfieWinner

On National HIV Testing Day, Project Silk launched a Project Selfie contest. The object of the contest is to post a selfie on our social media taken in the space along with a creative hashtag promoting HIV testing awareness. Please check out our Facebook page to view many great entries with innovative engagement surrounding HIV prevention and outreach. Yesterday, we were happy to announce our winner, Aria Copeland, with the entry #KnowingIsCaring. We believe this reflects our mission to offer a space where silk members are able to care for themselves by actualizing the direction of their own lives through holistic wellness and healthy relationships!

For more information on National HIV Testing Day, please visit this website. This year their message was “Take the Test, Take Control”.
